Wanema F. Garcia from the Pueblo of Acoma is a potter and designer of both traditional and non-traditional pottery/ Born into the Eagle and little Yellow Corn clans, she began creating and designing pottery at the early age of 12. Wanema continues to carry on the learned creative tradiion from her mother Barbara Louise V. Garcia and both of her grandmother maternal Pabalita R. Vicente and paternal Josephine V. Garcia. Her pottery has been purchased by individuals for household decor collections and various corporations interior displays. She specializes in the design trademark of various black and white designs and many variations of spectacular fine line designs. Se signs her art with wfg. Acoma.
Michael Stanton has been working with clay since 1991. He is the recipient of the Special Award at the 2003 Tokyo-New York Friendship Ceramics Competition. Having worked with raku for 10 years, he is once again concentrating on functional ware. His work has been featured and sold in galleries and shiops from Ne York and Cape Cod to Santa Fe. He is currently teach wheel throwing at Paseo Pottery in Santa Fe, NM. He is thrilled to be collaborating with Acoma Pueblo artist, Wanema Garcia.
