MARIA & MIRO KENAROV

WEBSITE

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • Maria and Miro Kenarov are a married couple who are Bulgarian-born artists, currently residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They are professionally trained and specialize in different art media, but they do some collaborative art collections as well. They enjoy working together and combine their artistic talent to create unique and distinct work. They have called their collaborative project "Canvas on Clay". The artwork they have created consists of fragments of Miro's paintings, printed on canvas and placed on top of ceramic tiles with different unique designs created by Maria.
In 1989 the Berlin Wall fell down and their son was born. The Cold War was over! The world finally became open for Maria and Miro to explore. The adventure spirit led them to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Miro was accepted to specialize in fine art lithography printmaking at the dTamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico..
Now many years later since they came to the "Land of Enchantment", they are enjoying being part of the large community of artists in Santa Fe.
