The Story

Roadrunner Studio and Gallery

Madrid’s showplace for fine art features owner Dale McDonnell’s  vibrant impressionistic landscapes.  The Gallery also contains many other artists utilizing a variety of medias.

Irish Bridge, pastel

Studio

To marry a working studio to an artist-owned gallery hearkens back to the days of Madrid’s radical rebirth in the 1970s, when shops were run by the artists themselves.

Gallery

In addition to Mr. McDonnell’s striking pastels, the gallery carries the works of local and regional fine artists.  Many of them have participated with the owner in shows by the Santa Fe Society of Artists, and their dynamic sculptures, expressive photography and meticulous paintings similarly take their aesthetic cues from the natural world.

el Correcaminos

The “roadrunner” name evokes New Mexico’s earnestly energetic state bird: a fearless heart, dashing through the desert’s coarse beauty.
